The Law Offices of Scott Glovsky recently filed a lawsuit against Loma Linda University Health Care medical group (“Loma Linda”) for denying an electric wheelchair to its member with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (commonly known as “ALS”). Its member, who was enrolled with Loma Linda through United Healthcare, cannot walk and needs an electric wheelchair. Despite Loma Linda’s obligation to provide medically necessary durable medical equipment, they denied the request as not medically necessary.
