Two New Cases Against Anthem Blue Cross

The Law Offices of Scott Glovsky recently filed two cases against Blue Cross of California dba Anthem Blue Cross for Anthem’s denial of coverage on the basis of lack of medical necessity.
In Campos v. Blue Cross of California dba Anthem Blue Cross, the plaintiff is a thirteen-year-old boy whose mother alleges on his behalf that Anthem refused to cover an emergency appendectomy that he received in the spring of 2015. Despite the necessity and emergency nature of the surgery, Anthem has left the boy and his parents to pay for the significant costs that arose out of the surgery.
Similarly, in Galumyan v. Blue Cross of California dba Anthem Blue Cross, Mr. Galumyan alleges that Anthem has denied him coverage for necessary nasal surgery. Anthem denied coverage for the surgery on the basis of lack of medical necessity, despite Mr. Galumyan’s doctor’s determination to the contrary.
